Jim Mount was licensed to practice law in Texas in 1988 and immediately joined the Harris County District Attorney's Office. From 1988 to 1998 Jim steadily rose through the ranks at the District Attorney's Office, serving as a Felony District Court Chief prosecutor, Chief of the Drug Task Force, Public Integrity Prosecutor and Deputy Division Chief of the Misdemeanor Division. In addition to his duties as a prosecutor, Jim taught and lectured on search and seizure law, jury selection, DWI jury trial strategy, and capital murder prosecutions. While a prosecutor, Jim tried many serious and complex cases, ranging from capital murder, robbery, large drug cases, vehicular crimes and DWI.

After leaving the District Attorney's Office, Jim established a criminal defense practice, which included a two-year term as a Public Defender in the 209th District Court of Harris County, Texas. In the course of his practice, Jim has defended hundreds of citizens accused of a wide variety of crimes. In addition to his criminal law practice Jim has represented clients in a wide range of civil lawsuits, which include wrongful death, personal injury, construction and contract claims. This wide scope of experience has provided Jim with the skills and experience to effectively examine, investigate and vigorously defend his clients in State and Federal cases.

As a former prosecutor turned criminal defense lawyer, Attorney Mount has proven that his unique insight allows him to effectively represent individuals accused of many different criminal offenses.
